Originated from Ioannina, Epirus, George Amiras has been employed as a journalist in press and TV channels for more than 25 years. He holds a law degree from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. As a
genuine dreamer and an activist, he has travelled around Greece and around the world, mostly cooperating with NGOs in purpose of environmental and species’ rescue projects.
At the municipal elections of 2010 he was elected as a Member of Municipal Council Athens Board, in charge of the green agenda. In the national elections of May 6, 2015, he was elected as a Member of The Greek Parliament, being re-elected in the elections of June 17, 2019.
On January 5, 2021 he was appointed Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy.
