Michalis Mathioulakis is an Energy Strategy Analyst. He is the Academic Director of the Greek Energy Forum, a Research Associate at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP) and an external Advisor on Strategy to the President of the Greek Regulatory Authority for Energy Water & Waste (RAEWW). He has been the Research Director of the Hellenic Energy Regulation Institute, as well as an associate to the Thucydides Chair in Strategic Studies in Greece, providing energy reports on MENA and Eastern Med to the Hellenic National Defence General Staff. He also has substantial experience in the financial sector as a stock and derivatives analyst and has been a lecturer of Finance and Risk Analysis modules in Executive MBA programs in Greece. For the past years, he has been providing consulting services regarding energy strategy, management, and energy regulation for institutions and organizations associated with the energy sector, while he has published several of his research, either as book chapters in collective volumes, or papers in scientific journals and international conferences. His analyses and opinions on energy issues are frequently hosted in Greek and international news outlets. He holds an MSc in Energy Strategy Law & Economics from the University of Piraeus, an MSc in Strategic Studies from the University of Macedonia in Thessaloniki, a BA in Economics, and a BA in Political Science. His research with the Department of International Studies in the University of Macedonia focuses on the correlation between Balance of Power and Energy Security, and in particular on the security dilemmas generated by shifts in energy security.
