Dr. Dionysia-Theodora Avgerinopoulou, MP is a Member of the Hellenic Parliament and a prominent figure in Environmental and Climate Law and Policy in the Mediterranean region. She currently serves as Chairperson of the Special Permanent Parliamentary Committee on Environmental Protection and the Subcommittee on Watercourses in the Hellenic Parliament. She is also the Vice President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and has been appointed as the Special Envoy of the Prime Minister of Greece for the Oceans. Additionally, she coordinated the Our Ocean Conference hosted by Greece in April 2024. Dr. Avgerinopoulou has held numerous international leadership roles, including Vice Chair of the Global Water Partnership Organization for the Mediterranean region and Chair of the Circle of Parliamentarians for Sustainable Development. In 2022, she was shortlisted by the United Nations as a candidate for Executive Director of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Her extensive contributions continue to advance global sustainability and environmental governance.
